Project Introduction

We recently had the opportunity to work on the DSPS app, a project that involved converting their website into a mobile app. In this case study, we'll go into the details of the project, from the initial concept to the final product, and everything in between.

App Features

DSPS is the mobile app for the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Catania, providing news, events, course information and contact details.

The app's description in the app stores reads as follows:

Discover the three-year Bachelor's Degree in Administrative and Organizational Sciences, and visit the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Catania: you will find the course description, career opportunities, admission procedures, faculty, subjects, syllabi, and many other multimedia resources! All available with a click on your smartphone and other mobile devices! The app also includes a contacts section and a rich gallery, a collection of videos and news, and all links to the Department's official pages. Navigate confidently when choosing your course of study, and stay constantly updated on news, events and opportunities.

Designing the DSPS App

The DSPS app was created using our self-serve platform, which allows customers to design and customize their app with ease. This approach provides flexibility and control over the app's appearance and functionality, enabling customers to create an app that meets their specific requirements. Our support team is always available to assist customers throughout the app creation process, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.

As part of the app creation process, we integrate additional features to enhance the app's functionality. These features include push notifications, which enable the DSPS team to communicate with users effectively and keep them informed about important updates and events. By incorporating these features, we ensure that the app provides a seamless and engaging user experience.

Publishing the App

During the app publishing process, it's not uncommon to encounter an app rejection from either Google or Apple. Typically these are minor issues, like accidentally providing incorrect links or information in the app store listing. Sometimes there's also a need for small website changes to make sure the content of the app is in compliance with the app store rules.

With our proven track record of successfully publishing apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, we are well-equipped to handle any challenges that may arise during the app review process. Our team is experienced in addressing common issues that can lead to app rejections, and we work closely with our customers to resolve these issues quickly and effectively. This ensures that the app is published without unnecessary delays, allowing users to access the app as soon as possible.

After the successful publishing of the app, users can now download and access DSPS on their mobile devices. The DSPS team is pleased with the app's launch and looks forward to user feedback.

Already, users have downloaded the app over 100 times! On average they gave the app a rating of 0.0 stars in the app stores (based on over 0 reviews).

Project Outcome

Transforming the DSPS website into a mobile app was a rewarding experience for both us and our client. We were able to deliver a high-quality, cross-platform mobile app that enhanced the user experience and added value to DSPS's services.
